Barrier Reef
The sun’s rays drift down into the ocean’s depths illuminating the colorful corral reefs and brilliantly colored sea life. This material features swirls of lavender, pale gold and red against a beautiful ocean blue, there is a plenty of shimmer and chatoyancy as if illuminated by the sun’s rays.
We view each handcrafted fountain pen as a functional work of art, our pens are turned individually on a wood lathe. Our hands touch each one, and we are involved in the process throughout, from cutting the blank to size, (we also cast many of our own blanks) boring out the blank, squaring, turning to shape and specifications, and finally sanding and polishing. Here at Barrel and Nib the process matters, having our hands touch each part has meaning, we believe in the value of “handcrafted” and feel this means each pen carries with it the attention and energy with which it was made
